U Do It Reviews Lighting: Edison bulb-style string lights
The manufacturer provided this set for review. It features a set of 50 Edison-style LED bulbs in shatter-proof plastic housing. Each bulb fixture has an eyelet that can be used to hang on a hook. The 120V plug-in transformer has a built-in controller with an accompanying remote control that doesn’t require a line of sight to control the lights.
Remote Control
The remote control offers two timer buttons: one for 3 hours and one for 5 hours. The LEDs will automatically turn off after the timer expires. There are three different modes of operation including flash, breathing, and dimmable at increments of 25%. We were able to control the light set from within the house without being able to see the controller.
Installation
The railing on our deck has a perimeter of 45 feet so this set was perfect for it. Each bulb can be evenly spaced and suspended from the railing every 12 inches. I suspended each bulb using two plastic zip-ties attached fed through the eyelet on the bulb housing and wrapped it around the railing.
You will certainly have a different setup and you’ll need to consider your situation when installing this light set. Our friends have multiples of this same lighting set from ten poles hanging from the tops of poles around a 20-foot by 30-foot patio. Their space is well-lit at night.
Tools and Materials Needed
I used tie wraps to secure the LEDs and a pair of flush-cut diagonals to trim off the excess tie wrap.

Our Thoughts
We used these LEDs every night this summer of 2024 while on the deck. And we enjoyed the ambiance it added every night we were on the deck. If our guests thought the light was too bright we used the dimmer capability to dim the lights.
