Setup for Product Demonstration
To properly demonstrate the use of the tongs I set up a temporary firepit using red bricks. The method I prefer for building a fire is to start with the largest logs first crisscrossed up to the smallest logs and then the kindling. I’m using the wood and kindling from the tree branches that I cut in this video here: Tool Review – Mini Chainsaw for Pruning and Tree Trimming.
In the wilderness, you may not have access to a canister of MAP gas as I did. This is not a lesson on how to survive by starting a fire. However, the practice of building the top-down fire will serve you well throughout the night. Now that the fire is started we can manage it throughout its life using the tongs.
CKLT Log Grabber Firepit Tongs Review
The tongs were packaged nicely in bubble wrap and included the CKLT hang tag. They feature rubber handles for easier handling and provide a level of insulation preferred in the cold. The log grabber has very sharp teeth for digging into the wood, which will help for managing the fire. This will allow you to move logs within the fire without an issue.
I was able to manage my fire easily and move logs around. It was even possible to pick up the smallest piece of bark with the tongs and gently place it on the fire. The tongs were long enough that I could safely reach the logs in the middle of the fire. These are a nice addition to my tools for my future outdoor firepit.
