In this tool review, we unbox and demonstrate the ImoumLive 6-inch Mini Chainsaw for Pruning and tree trimming. The manufacturer sent this product to me for review. I was able to get several branches of wood from my neighbor to demonstrate this saw’s capabilities.
ImoumLive Mini Chainsaw Packaging
The product was nicely housed within a latched blow mold case. Included in the case were safety glasses, a maintenance kit, an extra chain, a battery charger with two 21V 3Ahr batteries, and the operating manual.
First Impressions
The saw feels strong compared to other mini chainsaws I have reviewed. It has some weight to it and feels like the material used for the housing is dense and strong. Nearly everything was self-explanatory but considering safety I thought it was important to review the manual. The manual helped me understand some of the features. However, the manual did not describe the maintenance kit that was supplied. For instance, it was not clear if the included bottle of liquid was chain and bar oil.

Oil Reservoir
As stated it wasn’t clear if the included liquid was oil. So, I used my bottle of Toro bar and chain oil and filled up the oil reservoir with it. Since I couldn’t find my small funnel I made one out of a zip-loc bag. It worked but took a little longer than a funnel would have. I suspect that my oil was more viscous than what was intended to be used with the saw. My suggestion for the manufacturer is to include some required specifications for oil.

The following products were used in this video:
Batteries
The batteries that are supplied are 21VDC 3Ahr batteries. I have no way of quickly validating this as verifying this would require me to setup my test equipment. What I thought was great is that the batteries were charged to nearly 75%. This allowed me to begin my testing without having to wait for the batteries to charge.
Testing
As mentioned in the summary, my neighbor gave me several branches that fell from his ash tree in our last storm. I spent over two hours cutting branches and was able to go through all but maybe four of them. It was the end of the day, which is why I stopped. The battery seems to last a long time cutting through smaller branches. Cutting through larger branches that remove more material appears to quickly drain the battery.
I cut branches with a diameter of maybe 1/2 inch up to a diameter of 6 inches. The saw did well and did not bog down. You can hear the power of the saw drop as the battery is being depleted. That behavior is typical of battery-powered tools.
The saw was shipped with two batteries that were pre-charged to at least 75% capacity or higher. I was able to begin testing right out of the box. Once the first battery was completely drained, I was able to swap that one to the charger and install the other battery. While the battery was charging I cut as much as I could and then I swapped. It worked out well as you can see in the video.
Most of the cutting in the video is sped up to 10x speed. Only those sections that I thought would demonstrate the power of the saw and keep the speed in real-time.
My Review of the Mini Chainsaw
The blow mold case and the two fully charged batteries were a nice find. I love that the saw has its own case. Otherwise, I would lose all of the included parts.
The operating manual could be improved to provide additional information about the type of chain oil as well as information on the maintenance kit. It is possible that it was described but it wasn’t readily apparent from my glancing through it.
The mini chainsaw is very powerful and is a great tool for small pruning and tree-trimming jobs. If you are cutting up large logs, you would want to use a more powerful saw. But, in an emergency, if you need to cut a few large logs as I did, the Imoum Live Mini Chainsaw will help you out. I was pleasantly surprised that it cut through the large log. It took some time, but that is ok. It is after all called a mini-chainsaw for a reason.
The saw feels like it is built well. I would still treat this saw with care. Don’t drop it and don’t drop things on top of it. Store it in its case and you should have a saw that lasts you quite a while. This is true for many tools. Take good care of them and they may last you a lifetime.
