Replace your air filter as part of your regular maintenance

Replace your air filter as part of your regular maintenance.

I’m replacing an air filter in my Dodge Ram 2007 2500 Diesel 5.9L with a FRAM Extra Guard Engine Air Filter CA11034 in this video. There is an indicator on the Dodge Ram intake cover which indicates when it is time to replace the filter. When this is in the red it is time to replace it. I left my filter go for several years prior to replacing it, which is something you should avoid.

The truck hasn’t seen a lot of miles in the past two years due to obvious reasons so replacing it wasn’t a priority. Be sure to follow the maintenance schedule in your owners manual for this and other maintenance items.

Air Filter Replacement

To remove the air filter, unclip the retaining clips. This is shown in the video. Wearing gloves like Firm Grip gloves makes the removal easier. With the retaining clips free you may remove the filter cover. Remove the air filter and clear out any debris. Install the new air filter as shown in the video. Replace the filter cover. This may be difficult. Reattach the air filter cover clips. Reset the Air Filter Indicator by pressing in the button on the air filter.
