Does the RZ Mask work as a dust mask? I’m finally building the shed that I’ve written about. And I’m creating a lot of sawdust in the process.
The shed requires a gravel foundation. Therefore, I’m building a wall out of 4×4 timbers to retain the gravel base on uneven soil. Joining the 4×4 timers is done by cutting half-lap joints using my DeWalt DWS780 sliding miter saw.
Purchased out of Necessity
Cutting half-lap joints with a miter saw results in a large amount of sawdust. Even positioning the saw downwind still results in breathing in sawdust. I had enough and purchased the RZ Mask M2. In this video, you’ll see the unboxing of the mask and its accessories. I purchased the XL size since my head is large. The RZ Mask M2 comes with the RZ Mask M2, two filter inserts, a carry case, instructions, and a velcro extension strap for those who need a little more room.
Comfortability
I am able to wear this mask by wrapping it around my face to the back of my neck. Everything is fine until I bend over and tilt my head upwards. When I do this I break the grip of the velcro around my neck and the mask falls off my face. I need to use the extension strap or be mindful of the need to reach for something requiring me to bend over.
The mask filter inserts have a metal piece that you can shape around the bridge of your nose as well as an extra piece of foam cushion for extra comfort. I can attest that it is comfortable to wear but it does put a slight amount of pressure on my nose.
Eyeglasses
The mask is compatible with my eyeglasses. But, as the temperature drops I’m finding that my eyeglasses are slightly fogging over as a result of wearing the mask. I might be able to handle this with a coating for my glasses.
Where to Purchase
The RZ Mask M2 can be found in my list here:
