In this video, you will learn how to improve your workshop flow by labeling things. There’s nothing worse than interrupting your flow to find the nuts and bolts you need for your project. Only to spend more time looking for them than doing the real work. We all know about labeling. But, did we label things?
My Organization Madness
For the most part, I know where things are in my shop. But, I have several Ridgid Tools small parts organizers that I stack very high. They aren’t labeled and when I find one I often don’t put them back in the same order. I know I have one that is dedicated to 1/4-20 nuts, bolts, and washers. However, trying to find it can sometimes require me removing each one only to find it was the bottom one. If they are labeled, I might have to remove each one to get to the bottom one. But, at least I’ll know instantly where it is in the stack.
Hehua Label Cartridges
The manufacturer of the Brother P-Touch Cube compatible label cartridges sent me these labels for review. I figured this was a better time than ever to start my labeling. This brings back memories of when I would help my dad label things with the Dymo label maker. He too had a workshop that was organized with small parts drawers, pickle jars full of nuts, bolts, anchors, and other items hanging from the ceiling. He even had racks of baby food jars with tiny wood screws and other types of small fasteners. Every one was labeled.
Labeling Small Parts Organizers
I have several Ridgid Tools Small Parts organizers. I began labeling them from Nuts and Bolts to SPAX Fasteners. The parts organizers are grouped according to the type of fastener.
Tool Chest Labeling
I have a large Husky tool chest. I know where everything is in it. But, I decided to label it for Mrs U Do It and our son Johnny. It was at this moment I discovered the maximum printable tape length, which is 499mm or 19.62 inches.

What’s Next
My Ridgid Tools small parts organizers are in a large stack. It is time-consuming to grab one that is buried deep in the stack. I want to build a vertical organizer out of plywood where I can simply grab any individual one and pull it. I don’t know when I’ll get to this but it is on the To Do List.
