Unboxing the Oneida Air Systems Dust Deputy 2.5

In this video I unbox the Oneida Air Systems Dust Deputy 2.5 Deluxe Cyclone Separator Kit. This is a complete kit and is ready to use with your vacuum if it has a 2.5-inch hose. Oneida was kind enough to send me a unit for evaluation. I chose not to install the casters for my test. However, the kit comes with feet, casters and a strap that you can connect to your vacuum. This strap will keep the Dust Deputy 2.5 in follow mode with your vacuum.

The video focuses on the unboxing of the cyclone, the lid and gasket, the bucket, and the hose. I plan on building a setup that will house the Dust Deputy and my vacuum in one box with casters. But, that is for another day and another video.

Dust Deputy 2.5 Components

The Dust Deputy 2.5 Deluxe Cyclone Separator Kit contains the following parts:

  • Installation guide
  • Cyclone Chamber with Flange
  • Gasket seal (use between cyclone chamber and the bucket)
  • A semi-translucent bucket for capturing the dust
  • 2.5 inch heavy duty hose
  • Feet and Casters
  • Strap and hardware to attach Dust Deputy 2.5 to your vacuum

Video Chapters

Assembly of the Oneida Air Systems Cyclone Separator

Assembly was easy. I started with the assembly of the cyclone chamber, the gasket, and the lid. The cyclone lid has holes with embossed hex openings to hold the hut in place while you secure the bolt to the nut. I placed the gasket on the bottom side of the cyclone chamber’s flange. Then I grabbed a nut, bolt, and washer and began assembling the lid to the cyclone chamber. This was rather easy. As you can see in the video I connected the Dust Deputy 2.5 to my vacuum. Then I attached my vacuum hose, which I will use to vacuum up the sawdust on my floor, to the Dust Deputy. I watched videos on this product but I was still amazed at how it separates the dust from the air.

Testing

Once everything was connected I attached my GoPro Hero 10 to my vacuum via the SmallRig articulating arm and clamp. I placed my Neewer RGB61 inside the vacuum and put the vacuum lid on the container. You’ll notice a little bit of dust in the vacuum before me turning on the vacuum. This is because my filter was already used and my attempt to clean it was not that successful. The testing went smoothly and you’ll notice that no dust entered the vacuum. The Dust Deputy’s ability to remove dust from the air is amazing to watch!

To see the entire build of the Dust Deputy 2.5 you can watch it in this video here:

Purpose of the Cyclone Separator

Replacing filters in your vacuum can become rather costly. A cyclone separator is one way to capture dust ahead of your vacuum as you can see in the opening scene where you can see inside my vacuum.

What’s Next

You’ll be seeing the Oneida Air Systems Dust Deputy more in my videos, especially when it involves my DeWalt DW735 planer and my table saw.
