Use Flex Seal to Protect Wood

U Do It using flex seal to protect wood from moisture in a raised bed planter

I use Flex Seal to protect wood in this planter I built. The planter will hold soil that will retain moisture. Even though the planter is built out of pressure-treated wood it’s longevity can be shorted with continuous exposure to damp soil. The idea of protecting the wood with Flex Seal is to just spray the side that will be in constant contact with it, which is the bottom supports and the side wall.

To see the entire build of this planter you can watch it in this video here:

Purpose of the Raised Bed Planter

The raised bed planter provides you with an isolated area to grow plants, like flowers, vegetables, or herbs. You may live in an area where a raised bed planter is the only way to grow plants. Well, this is perfect for you. You may also want a separate area to grow things independent of a garden area.

Materials

Preparing the Interior

You can use deck tape to protect the surface but I chose to use Flex Seal spray to protect the surface of the planter. I sprayed the top layers of the boards and the first level of the inner wall within the planter. It dried quickly and I was able to install the wire mess with my stapler. Then line the interior with landscape fabric.
